Said two switch-on modes are differentiated by the operation of software means particular to the system and permanently available on the computer. The switching-on mode signal is permanently available. The switching-on of certain peripherals can be made conditional to the local or remote switching-on mode. The invention enables to switch off a computer (4) and all or part of its peripherals (5) by operating software means particular to the system and permanently available. Said software means can be automatically or manually activated, either locally or remotely.
