[origin: DE19741175A1] The method involves responding to the breakage in a radio connection between a mobile handset (PP) and a cordless telephone base station (FP1). The base station is connected to a common ISDN exchange to supply a connection interrupt signal to a data link control layer. The call connection can be placed on hold for a timed interval, e.g. 30 seconds, in response to the connection interrupt signal. The connection is on hold until a new base station is located and the call is transferred to the new base station.
