[origin: DE19741963C1] The device has an ignition coil (7), with its primary winding (7a) arranged in series with an ignition switch (6), switched by a control circuit (1), between the positive terminal and negative terminal of an on-board voltage source (9). The secondary winding (7b) of the coil is connected to at least one spark plug (8). The device also has a series circuit of a capacitor (4), and a resistor (2) connected to the negative terminal (GND) of the voltage source, as well as to a diode (3). The gate (G) of the IGBT-type ignition switch (6) is connected to the control circuit (1) via a first resistor (2). The capacitor (4) is connected on one side with the collector terminal (C) of the ignition switch. The second resistor (5) connected in series is connected to the negative terminal (GND) of the voltage source (9). A diode (3) which conducts current away from the gate (G) is arranged between the gate and the connection point between the capacitor and the resistor.
