Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9914518A1] A cylinder liner for diesel or Otto internal combustion engines is made of an AlSi type aluminium alloy, with 12 to 40 % Si, for example, the size range of the particles of Si or intermetallic phases lying from 1 to 20 mu m. The cylinder liners are produced by a strip casting process in which the aluminium alloy is cast into a strip, the strip is cut into sections, the abutting narrow sides of the strip section are formed into a cylinder liner by applying an inseparable seam, such as a welding seam, or are formed into a pipe and then the pipe is cut into sections to form the cylinder liners.
