Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19742450A1] A process for reducing the number of simulation steps required in a simulation process can be used for many different simulation processes for generating, by means of a computer, knowledge data on a total system composed of several electrically controlled elements. The elements are decomposed into components which comprise one or several basic elements. The electrical connections between the basic elements and between the components are then detected, discrete electrical state values are associated to the basic elements, and operating states, as well as possible states of the individual components, are defined in relation to the electrical state values of the basic elements. The variables which can be measured at the basic elements and components and are required to generate knowledge data are then determined and the basic elements which have no influence on the thus determined variables are determined, gathered and eliminated. The number of required simulation steps and the computing time required to carry them out can thus be reduced by several powers of ten.
