Abstract (en)

[origin: FR2769308A1] The use of an aqueous alkaline composition containing an aluminum polysulfate as a setting and/or thickening accelerator for cement, mortar or concrete slurries is new. An aqueous alkaline composition containing an aluminum polysulfate (derivative) of formula Al(OH)a(SO4)b(SIOx)c (I) is used as a setting and/or thickening accelerator for cement, mortar or concrete slurries. a = 0.8 to 1.7, b = 0.3 to 1.2, c = 0 to 0.1 and x = 2 to 4. Independent claims are also included for (i) the use, as a setting and/or thickening accelerator for cement, mortar or concrete slurries, of an aqueous alkaline composition containing 1.65 mol/l of an aluminum polysulfate (derivative) of formula (I), where a = 0.75 to 2, b = 0.3 to 1.2, c = 0 to 0.1 and x = 2 to 4; (ii) an aqueous silica particle suspension containing an alkali metal sulfate and an aluminum polysulfate of formula (I), where a = 0.8 to 1.7, b = 0.3 to 1.2, c = 0 to 0.1 and x = 2 to 4; (iii) preparation of the aqueous composition or aqueous suspension as described above by stirring an aqueous suspension with an aluminum sulfate and optionally silica and water, adding an aqueous alkali metal silicate solution, homogenizing at ambient temperature, adding an aqueous alkali metal aluminate solution with stirring at ambient temperature and heating at 50-60 deg C to obtain the desired suspension; (iv) use of the above aqueous suspension (ii) as a setting and/or thickening accelerator for cement, mortar or concrete slurries; and (v) a process for spraying a concrete or mortar layer onto a surface, in which the above aqueous composition or aqueous suspension is added just ahead of or into the spraying equipment. Used as a setting and/or thickening accelerator for cement, mortar or concrete slurries, especially spray concrete or mortar mixes.
