Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9836438A1] A switch for connecting and disconnecting a voltage to a circuit (7) has three terminals. The actuator is adapted to switch a contact spring (4) between two positions (position 1, position 2). Upon connection of voltage to the circuit (7), the sum of the voltage to the circuit and the voltage to the actuator is applied to one terminal of the actuator, which actuator voltage may be positive, negative or 0. The other terminal of the actuator is connected to the voltage supply to the circuit and the contact spring (4). It is hereby possible to construct a switch which is compact, as in contrast to traditional switches with four terminals the switch does not have insulation distances between the phase voltage and the actuation voltage. The switch may be used for many applications and is particularly useful in connection with remote-controlled coupling of circuits which have had a fault condition, e.g. caused by an overcurrent or a fault current.
