[origin: WO9917425A1] An electrical insulation (1) for a conductor (2, 3, 8), arranged in a plurality of turns for generating a magnetic field, comprising an insulant (6) of a solid material. The insulation is tubular and comprises an inner semiconducting layer (5) and an outer semiconducting layer (7). The semiconducting layers are adapted to contain between themselves an electric field. The joint between one of the semiconducting layers and the insulant (6) exhibits an adhesion which allows a retained mechanical contact in case of a structure-changing stress.
