Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1020549A1] The mechanism to hold a weft, at a rolling shed loom, has a holder (11) for a clamping unit (15) with a fixed and a moving clamping section. The moving clamp section is under spring tension, and forms a clamping gap with the fixed clamp section. The weft yarn (4) is held longitudinally and under tension by the weft feeds (12,13) and cutter (14), to be moved through the clamping gap. A spring applies pressure on the moving clamp section against the fixed clamp section. A second spring applies a torque on the moving clamp section to apply an increasing clamping force in the clamping gap from the entry. The clamping sections have longitudinal clamping surfaces, with angled ridges against their longitudinal line. The weft is moved by two feeds (12,13) as ring-shaped disks. The outer peripheries of the feed disks (12,13) have at least one recess (31,32) to hold the weft (4). The weft feed (13) after the yarn clamp (15), in the weft direction, has a hook-shaped section (33). A retainer of a spring material is tensed against the second weft feed (13). An Independent claim is included for a rolling shed loom where the holder (11) is parallel to the loom rotor axis in an adjustable mounting, supported at the fabric table (6).
