Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1020550A1] The apparatus to cut the weft yarn, at a gripper loom, has a clamp (1) with a fixed clamping section (4) and an adjustable clamping section (5) to hold the weft yarn back. A cutter (2) severs the weft after release by the clamp. The adjustable clamping section is a leaf spring (5) or a clamping pad which swings in relation to a fixed clamping pad. The clamping unit has a setting system to alter the position of the adjustable clamping section (5) and the force it applies on the clamped weft, using a setting screw or a linear motor (14). The cutter has a fixed blade and a rotating blade (12) or a moving blade fitted with a section to hold the weft against the fixed blade.
