[origin: EP1020886A2] The switch has spaced stationary electrodes (E1,E2) and a cooperating bridging contact (2) which connects the electrodes in the closed switch position, with an explosive charge (4) generating the gas for extinction of the switching arc. the bridging contact is provided by a switch piston and an integral contact sleeve (2') having a gas exit opening (3) which is closed by the hollow stationary electrode (E2) in the closed switch position and which leads to a gas exit chamber (8) in the open switch position. An Independent claim for an application of a high-speed current breaker switch for use with a power switch is also included.
