[origin: WO9920430A1] The invention relates to a welding device which works by means of a laser beam, for joining two work pieces (1, 2) together with a continuous weld seam (N) which is closed in itself. Said welding device comprises an optical focusing system (7) with a sensor (10) for following the seam and is supported by a swivel arm (11) so that the optical focusing system (7) defines a circular path in relation to the work pieces (1, 2). The position of the optical focusing system (7) on the swivel arm (11) is corrected by means of a drive mechanism (13) in accordance with the measuring result of the sensor (10) for following the seam.
