Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19745409A1] The support system (2) comprises three parts. An annular shell (3) is mounted on two annular ring supports (4, 5). One of these completes the assembly separately, but only after the tire has been mounted on the rim. Preferred Features: One axial edge of the shell is detachable from the first ring. The ring associated with the other edge of the shell has axial resilient deformability or pivots in this direction. The connection with the support is clip-in or snap-in. One rubbery support ring is bonded to the tire bead, extending into the hollow volume of the tire, and forming a part of it. One support rim comprises resilient hardened foam which is bonded to the vulcanized tire by foaming-onto the bead, prior to fitting on the rim. The detachable connection between shell and first ring may be made as an axial and radial solid mounting, completed after fitting the wheel. The second ring support has a circumferential transverse incision over part of its width, below the region of attachment. The minimal inner diameter of the tread when sprung-in exceeds the maximum outer shell diameter by at least 35 mm. The shell is a split ring. An outer edge of the shell has a gripping profile, with complementary negative formation in the ring. There is a spreader in the split shell, enlarging its diameter during mounting.
