[origin: WO9919172A1] The invention relates to an air bag system for an automobile containing an airbag (5) comprised of an inflatable gas cushion, a gas generator (2) for inflating said airbag (5), a gas delivery tube (4) extending through a divided area of the airbag (5), inflation openings in the gas delivery tube (4), and a strip component (13) with a firing channel (6) configured therein. The folded airbag (5) and the gas delivery tube (4) are accommodated in said channel (6). In addition, fastening elements are provided for holding the packaged unit which comprises a strip component (13), airbag (5) and gas delivery tube (4).
