[origin: FR2770167A1] The clamp has a lever (2) which pivots about an axis relative to the body of the clamp to actuate the piston (6) of a power cylinder having a lengthwise axis (Z-Z'). The clamp incorporates a shock absorber. The lever is connected to the end (8) of the piston rod via a control and coupling mechanism (MC), and the clamp incorporates a shock absorber (MA) to damp any shocks in the mobile components of the mechanism (MC) when the piston rod returns to its rest position. The rod also carries an intermediate connector (21) or stop, designed to interact with a thrust surface on the body of the clamp when the piston is in its rest position. Used for holding structural work pieces during machining or welding, e.g. during motor vehicle assembly.
