[origin: GB2346202A] A telescopic support 11 attachable to the region of the butt 7 (Figures 1 and 2) of a firearm comprises a cylinder 13, having an external screw thread to engage the firearm body, with a telescopic leg 27 retractable therein. Leg 27 is biassed to retract within cylinder 13 by spring 31. Leg 27 is retained in extended positions by the engagement of ball bearing 37 with notches 33 on leg 27. Ball bearing 37 is forced into or released from notches 33 under the action of member 21: if member 21 is moved downward, shoulder 25 moves from the region of ball bearing 37, so releasing bearing 37 from notch 33. Upward movement of member 21 conversely locks leg 27 in position. Further fine adjustment is provided by a threaded collet wheel 17.
