[origin: WO9922890A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for producing a toothed wheel from a powder metal blank (1) which has been sintered and pressed with an overmeasure in the toothing area. Said blank is compacted in the area of the overmeasure using the pressure of a counter-toothing (8) of at least one rotating pressing tool (3) around the overmeasure so that a plastic deformation takes place, said counter-toothing engaging with the toothing (9) of the powder metal blank (1). In order to facilitate the construction of the toothed wheel, the counter-toothing (8) of the annular pressing tool (3) which surrounds the powder metal blank (1), said counter-toothing being configured as inner toothing, is pressed into the toothing (9) of the powder metal blank (1) using a pressure roller which rolls out on the outer periphery (10) of the pressing tool (3).
