[origin: WO9965830A1] An oxidation-reduction treatment of wastewater with biomass. The process comprises charging the system with a recuperable oxidation-reduction mediator specie, such as a metallic ion; oxidizing a terminal reducing agent, such as biomass oxidation (6), with reduction of the mediator specie; reducing a primary oxidizing agent, such as denitrification (2), with oxidation of the mediator specie; and retaining the mediator specie in the system in an insoluble form (4). A portion of the biomass and the mediator specie are directed (7, 8) between the oxidation and reduction steps for repeated treatment.
