Abstract (en)

[origin: FR2770223A1] Thulium-containing lanthanum phosphate is used as a blue-emitting phosphor in an X-ray or plasma system.- DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: - (i) an X-ray or plasma system which includes a thulium-containing lanthanum phosphate as phosphor; - (ii) a lanthanum phosphate and a lanthanum phosphate-based phosphor which contain thulium and which consist of particles of 1-20 microns average size with a dispersion index of less than 0.6; and - (iii) preparation of the above lanthanum phosphate by introducing a solution of lanthanum, thulium and optionally gadolinium salts into a phosphate ion-containing solution of pH less than 3, controlling the pH at a constant value of less than 2 during precipitation, and then recovering and optionally thermally treating the precipitate.- Preferred Feature: The lanthanum phosphate contains 0.1-10 (especially 0.5-5) atom % thulium and may also contain gadolinium
