[origin: WO9911979A1] Safety cut-off devices using a thermoelectric voltage generated by a sensor in a flame are known. As long as the flame heats the sensor it generates a holding current for a magnetic valve. When the sensor cools down due to loss of flame, the valve closes as the holding current disappears. Such safety devices have a long time constant so that too much gas escapes after the flame has extinguished. The invention provides for a sensor with a small time constant which by means of a transistor controls a current generated by a series connection of thermoelements. In this manner a safer device is obtained.
