Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19748006A1] According to known methods, ATM cells are transmitted separately via connection elements arranged redundantly within switching systems. This presents a risk of unchecked ATM cell loss at the output end in the event of an overload or a fault. According to the inventive method, two redundantly arranged transmission devices are synchronised. This synchronisation process takes place by means of a common status table which is provided for the two devices, showing the current level of fullness of the cell queues.
