[origin: WO9920395A1] The present system is useful for the synthesis of chemical compounds and can be used for solid state or liquid chemistries. In one embodiment, the system (10) includes a reagent delivery/vent unit (20) and a chemical processing unit (30) containing a plurality of reaction vessels (50). The reagent delivery/vent unit has a plurality of tubular structures (100) adapted to slidably engage cavities (104) in the chemical processing unit to form a circumferential seal about each of the tubular structures. The delivery/vent unit typically uses a fluid interface head containing the tubular structures to engage the chemical processing unit. The chemical processing unit preferably uses a cassette (110) to house all of the reaction vessels and defines the plurality of elongate cavities adapted to receive the tubular structures.
