[origin: DE19749254A1] The invention relates to a knife (1) with a replaceable blade (3), especially a carpet knife, with a handle (2). Both opposite lying broadsides (7) point outward in a wedge-shaped manner in the front narrow side (5) of the handle from which the blade (3) protrudes. The back side (11) of the handle (2) runs in a convex manner, and a front side (12) of the handle runs in a concave manner. The invention provides an ergonomic improvement such that the contour line (L1) of the entire back side (11) virtually coincides with a circular arc line, and the contour line (L2) of the front side (12) is comprised of converging contour line sections (a, b) which run in an approximately straight manner in the rear handle area (13) and in the concave curvature (14).
