[origin: WO9966178A1] The invention relates to a method for controlling a gas exchange valve of an internal combustion engine comprising a mobile valve section (3). Said mobile valve section comprises, on its end which is closest to the combustion chamber, a sealing surface (7) through which it co-operates with a valve seat (9) for controlling an admission or exhaust section of the internal combustion engine combustion chamber. Said mobile valve section comprises, on its end remote from the combustion chamber, a piston (11) which defines at least one hydraulic working chamber (21). Alternate filling of said working chamber (21) with a hydraulic pressure medium and discharge of said chamber allow for the valve mobile section (3) to move in an opening direction or closing direction. The hydraulic pressure medium supply pressure applied to actuate the gas exchange valve mobile section (3) is controlled based on actual operating parameters of the internal combustion engine to supply.
