The mattress has a mattress core enclosed by external cover layers, with integrated electrical heating wires which can be coupled to a LV source, for preheating the mattress to a required temperature. The heating wires may be incorporated in a hot melt adhesive band (3) interleaved between the spring chains of the mattress spring core and used for joining the spring chains together upon heating the hot melt adhesive.
