Abstract (en)
A machine for profiling metal sheets for use primarily in roofing and also in cladding surfaces. The set up of the machine and the method of operating it is specified so as to provide defined conditions in a region (A) of the sheet metal which is entering the machine. The region (A) is located between a guide set (G.1,G.2) which holds the sheet flat in a transverse direction to the longitudinal (feed) direction into the machine and the first (C1.A) of a number of roll sets (C1.A,C1.B,C1.1,C1.2,C1.3) which first roll set (C1.A) commences forming a longitudinally extending ridge (11) in the sheet. The defined conditions are that the sheet is concave on its upper surface both in longitudinal and transverse directions save for a bulge (10), described as a "lordosis" which is convex on the said upper surface. A region of contraflexure of the sheet in advance of the said region is advantageous. <IMAGE>
