[origin: EP1030135A1] The method involves using an intermediate medium that is cooled by the evaporated liquid nitrogen in a condenser (7) and has a different boiling characteristic from nitrogen. The intermediate medium passes from the condenser to an evaporator (6) as a liquid. The evaporated medium is fed back to the condenser for re-cooling and condensing. The solidifying point of the intermediate medium is higher than the evaporation temp. of the liquid nitrogen and the evaporation of the liquid nitrogen takes place at atmospheric pressure in thermal contact with the intermediate medium. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for regulated cooling with evaporated liquid nitrogen.
