[origin: WO9925911A1] A calender for treating a sheet (20) of a non-woven material (V) consisting of thermoplastic fibres comprises a heated steel gravure roll (1) and a counter-roll (2) rotating at the same peripheral speed. The local plastifications or fusions of the non-woven material (V) produced at the points of the gravure elevations give the material a boardy feel. In order to reduce this boardy feel, the sheet (20) of the non-woven material (V) is flattened after at least partial cooling.
