Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19750228C1] The invention relates to a device for actuating a gas exchange valve for internal combustion engines, comprising an electromagnetic actuator which is float-mounted in a cylinder head, which is supported on a play compensation element and which has an opening magnet and a closing magnet. An armature is located between the pole faces of said magnets in such a way that that it can be axially displaced in relation to the valve axis. The electromagnetic actuator acts upon a valve shaft either directly or by means of an armature tappet. The inventive device also comprises one pre-stressed valve spring which acts upon the gas exchange valve in the opening direction and one pre-stressed valve spring which acts upon the same in the closing direction. Said springs are arranged between the actuator and the gas exchange valve and are supported with one end on the valve shaft or the armature tappet, via a spring plate. The valve spring which acts in the direction of opening is supported with its free end on the actuator. According to the invention, the valve spring which acts in the direction of closing is supported with its free end directly or indirectly on the actuator.
