[origin: DE19730017A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a coin-operated entertainment apparatus comprising a symbol-based playing device (1), possibly a playing device for additional winnings (17), a screen (22 or 23) and a computer-controlled control unit. According to the method provided for in the invention advertising spots which induce users to play or are of a general nature are shown on the screen (22 or 23) in a computer-controlled manner. At least one advertising spot comprises elements of a game of skill which can be assembled into a complete picture by manipulating keys and/or on the basis of chance. If the elements of the game of skill are assembled correctly a prize is won.
