To this end, system parameters of the voice recognition system are established using an input quantity by means of a representation specification and the voice recognition system is accordingly adjusted to the values which are determined in this manner. An adaptation of a voice recognition system can optionally result during operation in order to guarantee an application dependent matching in a range between maximum quality during voice recognition and the highest possible speed during execution of the voice recognition. The computing element can also be automatically adjusted by determining a performance index of the computing element beforehand using a program provided for the adjustment. Said performance index represents a measure for the input quantity and, as a result, guarantees an adequate operation of the voice recognition system on this computing element.
