Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9911582A1] The manufacture of porous ceramic structures such as membranes and filters from preceramic polymer precursors such as polyorganoborosilazanes is disclosed. A method comprising the steps of precipitating a preceramic polymer from a casting solution, then pyrolyzing the ceramic structure to form a porous ceramic is used. Structures with a voids volume of greater than 50 % are obtained with the method. Potential uses for the porous structures include ultrafiltration and nanofiltration.
