[origin: FR2771422A1] Isolated nucleic acid (I) from genes (or related regions) that encode proteins (II) involved in controlling resistance or susceptibility to development of tumors (e.g. Marek disease tumors) in chickens. (I) includes sequences from gene of systems B or Rfp-Y of the poultry major histocompatibility complex (MHC), other than genes of class II B-L and genes 17.5, 12.3 or B-FIV of class I. Alternatively, (I) can hybridize under weakly stringent conditions with genes that encode (II). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method for genotyping poultry, particularly chickens, by amplification of a nucleic acid sample with one or more primers that hybridize specifically to nucleic acid in a polymorphic region of systems Rfp-Y or B of the MHC, then detection of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products formed; and (2) kits for this method comprising reagents necessary for performing PCR and detection reactions, especially primers derived from (I).
