[origin: DE19828931A1] The fuel filter is made up of pre-filter and fine filter (7) having pore width of 1.5-8 micron as opposed to the pre-filter whose pore width amounts to 7-15 micron. Both filters (4,7) are backed in the fuel path by a pressure limiting element (8), or the limiter is set ahead of the filters. Alternatively, the limiting element (8) can be placed between the pre- and fine filters (4,7), and the filters are designed so the pre-filter at least can be arranged in the fuel tanks (1). This fuel system is free from return flow. A screen is also provided for the fuel pumped (2) from the tank (1).
