A ceramic forming flame resistant composition (I) comprises (A) a polymer blend that consists of an ethylenic polymer and an organosilicon polymer and (B) a ceramic forming filler. An Independent claim is included for an electrical wire or cable (II) that contains (I) in an intermediate layer, mantle, sheathing and/or insulation.

Bei einer keramisierbaren, flammwidrigen Zusammensetzung, enthaltend ein Polymerblend und einen keramisierbaren Füllstoff, wird eine niedrige Brennbarkeit und Rauchentwicklung sowie ein erhöhter Isolations- und Funktionserhalt im Brandfall dadurch erreicht, dass das Polymerblend wenigstens teilweise aus ethylenischen Polymeren und siliziumorganischen Polymeren besteht, und dann die Füllstoffkombination eine stabile und nicht leitende Kruste bildet. <IMAGE>
