[origin: WO9926821A1] The invention relates to an electromechanical brake system, especially for motor vehicles, comprising a pedal simulator (1) and brake modules (7). A central module (6) is also provided. The connection between the above-mentioned modules can be made through a redundant data bus (5). The central module (6) evaluates the desired braking signals from a sensor device (3) and detects errors. Furthermore, the central module (6) emits a corresponding set brake value on the basis of the desired braking operation and eventually higher functions such as ABS, ASR, etc. The set brake value is then transmitted to the brake modules (7). The brake modules (7) determine the corresponding control signals for the actuators (8) which interact with the wheels (9) in order to implement the desired braking operation.
