[origin: DE19752776C1] The invention relates to a method for producing a component from a composite Al2O3 titanium aluminide material. In order to produce the component, a shaped body is pressed out of an initial mixture comprising titanium, especially in an oxide form, carbon and/or intermediate products thereof, filling materials and bonding agents. The shaped body undergoes thermal treatment at a conversion temperature, whereby a pressure-stable sacrificial body is formed. The filling material, and optionally the binder, is/are removed. The sacrificial body is filled with aluminium and/or an aluminium alloy under pressure. Filling takes place at a temperature which is higher than the conversion temperature. The temperature is then reduced to a conversion temperature whereby the materials of the filled sacrificial body and the aluminium react in a solid reaction at a temperature lower than the filling temperature to produce a composite Al2O3 titanium aluminide body.
