[origin: DE19742014A1] New and known tetracyclo(6.6.2.0<2>,7.09,14)hexadeca- 2(7),3,5,9(14),10,12-hexaene derivatives (I) are used for preparation of medicaments with phospholipase-inhibiting activity. Use of tetracyclo(6.6.2.0<2>,7.09,14)hexadeca- 2(7),3,5,9(14),10,12-hexaene derivatives of formula (I), and salts, esters, optically active forms, racemates or derivatives which are metabolized to compounds of formula (I) in vivo, in preparation of a medicament with phospholipase-inhibiting activity, is new. R1, R2 = H or halo; X = H; Y = NR3R4 or N<+>CH3R3R4; or X + Y = CH2-NR<5> (sic); Z = CH2 or C=NH; R3 = H or lower alkyl; R4 = OH, carbamoyl, amidino, heteroaryl, N-aralkylheteroaryl or lower alkyl; or NR3R4 = a heterocyclic ring which optionally contains a second heteroatom and is optionally substituted; R5 = H, amidino, or a heterocyclic group which contains one or more heteroatoms An Independent claim is included for the compounds of formula (I), provided that when R1 and R2 are both H, then (a) R4 is not lower alkyl; (b) R5 is not H; (c) NR3R4 is not an unsubstituted piperidine or morpholine ring.
