[origin: WO9929821A1] A method of optimizing the use of cellulase is provided wherein the ionic strength of the aqueous solution in which the cellulase is used is adjusted to greater than 20 mM. The pratice of the invention results in improved performance of the cellulase in, for example, the treatment of cellulose containing textiles.
