[origin: EP1036894A2] A vessel (8) is placed over the water outlet (6) and its side wall (9) contains at least one inlet opening (15) with a height less than that of the side wall. A cover (10) for the top of the vessel helps create an airtight-sealed space inside the vessel when the inlet openings are blocked by water backing up. The flow of water out through the overflow (7) and down the drainpipe (2) creates a vacuum in this space, resulting in water being drawn in through the inlet openings more quickly.
