[origin: EP1037003A2] The freezer has a fan that forces ambient air to be cooled over an evaporator of a coolant circuit contg. a compressor and a condenser and a heater that thaws the evaporator during thawing phases, during which the compressor and fan are pref. not operating. A controller lowers the temp. in the freezer compartment or of the frozen goods to below the desired value before each thawing phase.
