[origin: DE19831901A1] The cooling system for an engine (10) includes a radiator (14) in a large coolant circuit (12), and cooling fan (18) driven by a motor (16). A coolant pump (20) and at least one active element in the form of a second pump (24) in a small coolant circuit (22), taking the coolant through a branch line (26) from the large circuit into the small one, thus passing the cooler.
