Die Erfindung betrifft eine Brandschutzklappe mit einem Gehäuse für eine darin schwenkbar gelagerte Absperrklappe, wobei das Gehäuse eine sich längs des Umfangs der geschlossenen Absperrklappe erstreckende Kammer aufweist, die ein sich unter Wärme ausdehnendes Material enthält. Um die Schutzfunktion der Brandschutzklappe zu verbessern, soll das Material in der Kammer ein im Wesentlichen Natriumsilikat und Chloroprenkautschuk enthaltendes synthetisches Elastomer sein. <IMAGE>
