[origin: EP1038751A1] The buffer has a buffer box (1) fastened to the vehicle, and a buffer plunger (2) supported on it via a spring assembly (9). The max. travel of the buffer plunger is limited by an end stop formed by a spring ring (8). The buffer box has a section, which extends mainly conical to an aperture. The outer diameter of the buffer box in the area of the aperture corresponds approx. to the inner diameter of the spring ring. Buffer box and plunger are mainly hollow cylindrical, and one has a an aperture to lock the spring ring.
