Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1039022A2] In the press assembly for handling a fiber web, of paper or cardboard, at least one press roller (18) is mounted with a floating bearing (26) at least at one end of the roller. The bearing rings (32) within the bearing housing (28) have a relative sliding movement against each other along the line of the roller axis (X). The bearing rings (30,32) can tilt against each other with a max. tilt angle of 0.5 degrees . The bearing rings (30,32) are supported on all sides by bearing rollers (36) between them. The floating bearing (26) is at least at the leading side of the roller. The bearing housing (28) is rigidly fixed to the roller support mounting. The press assembly has at least one shoe press with a counter roller (18) at the shoe press roller. The counter roller (18) is fitted with a floating bearing (26) at least at one end. The bearings of the press rollers are keyed to the bearing housing of the counter roller (18), to allow for a sliding movement through length changes in the press rollers.
