Abstract (en)
A lock assembly for a sliding door or window with its vertical frame member in the form of a hollow extrusion has a recessed handle with a cover plate (13) fitted against an external wall (4) of the extrusion. The handle cover plate is fixed against the extrusion surface by a fastening (123) which is accessed through the inside of the extrusion. e.g. rotated by an Allen key (130) so that cam projections (125, 126) engage with the inner surface of the extrusion's outer wall. In other variants of the design the handle can be held in place by spring-loaded catches or threaded couplings.
