[origin: WO9914038A2] The invention relates to a reinforcing material, in particular an extensive reinforcing material for building surfaces and fillers, as well as for road surfaces, comprising flexible and/or ductile fiber material capable of absorbing viscous, free-flowing or solidifying filler. The invention seeks to create an improved reinforcing or surface construction enabling rational production of a reinforced building or building element, and guaranteeing reliable binding between the reinforcement and the filler. To this end, the reinforcing material comprises at least one support layer (TS), consisting at least partially of fiber material, and designed so as to be non-tensile and rigid in two mutually angled directions within its surface area. The reinforcing material also comprises a connecting layer (VS) which contains molten, thermoplastic or heat-bonding material. The surfaces of the connecting layer (VS) and the support layer (TS) are connected to each other by capillary absorption into the fiber cavities of the support layer, by melting on, or by cementing.
