Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19754886A1] The invention relates to a method for producing polyurethane elastomer fibres, comprising the following steps: a) the production of a segmented polyurethane polymer with a base consisting of i) a macrodiol with a molecular weight of approximately 500 to 10000, ii) an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and/or aliphatic-cycloaliphatic di-isocyanate and iii) a chain extender with at least two hydroxy and/or amino groups, said polymer having a molar excess of isocyanate groups of at least approximately 0.2 % compared to the hydroxy and amino groups from the macrodiol and chain extender, in relation to the sum of the hydroxy and amino groups; b) the melt-extrusion of the polyurethane polymer to form a fibre, steps a) and b) being carried out in conditions of temperature and detention time in which essentially no allophanate can form and c) the re-treatment of the fibre in conditions of temperature and detention time in which the polyurethane polymer is cross-linked through the formation of allophanate. The resulting fibres have excellent mechanical textile properties, especially a good tear strength, elongation at tear, permanent elongation and heat distortion temperature.
