Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19755374C1] The method involves activating a first storage control input (W) of a storage unit (RFIFO) using an ATM transmission module when the transmission module has data to be transmitted to an ATM reception module and the storage unit has available storage capacity. The data are output to a first data bus (SARDAT) which connects the ATM transmission module with the storage unit. The storage unit temporary stores received data via the data bus as long as the storage control input is activated. A control module transmits transmitter state information (ATMRCLAV) from the storage unit to the ATM reception module for signalling a request. A second storage control input (R) is activated by the ATM reception module when the ATM reception module can receive data and the data are temporary stored in the storage unit. The temporary stored data are output to a second data bus (ATMRDAT) which connects the storage unit to the reception module as long as the second storage control unit is activated.
