[origin: EP1040926A1] A drum or belt advances a magnetic surface (3) across a head (2) which may be an electromagnet receiving signals from a cont unit (5). The head magnetizes points on the magnetic surface (3) and ink particles are projected on to the drum forming revealed points. The commencement of a line of magnetized points is detected and additional energy is supplied to the leading points to compensate for the energy benefit experienced by the later points
